They chose you.

Every ancestor who dropped to their knees in fervent prayer

Whispering the stories of your birth, your mother’s birth before you, and her mother’s before her.

They scraped the shards of glass from every burden

Held every tear in their wombs, soothed every scar into softness

Waiting for a moment of grace to sing their names amidst the darkness.

They wanted to know you, each and every one of you.

You were born generations ago in Spirit

And have lived cumulative lifetimes in realms unseen.

You chose this lifetime to embody them

To carry yourself with honor

Their names echoing through your veins

Their love becoming your breath.

They chose you as much as you chose them.

Love them.

Love yourself.

It is the only way to live

Now and for all eternity.
